“Ngh..!”
Esmeralda grunted sharply as Naoko’s cross landed, bashing the bridge of her nose. Her head whipped backward as she took a step back, a cloud of her sweat thrown up into the air. If the Sniper’s jabs in the first half of the round merely gave her pause, then this was the first punch to legitimately do a bit of damage as Esmeralda began to feel an all-too-familiar sensation creeping up along her lightly throbbing sinuses. She covered up as Naoko moved in on her, slinging more blue-and-white leather her way from the edge of her range. Esmeralda was able to defend a good portion of these attacks, though a few still managed to find their way through to her. The entire time, she kept her eyes on her opponent, becoming aware of her proximity to the ropes.
“Alright chica, I see you’ve got something behind those gloves…” Esmeralda mused between blocked jabs from Naoko. “Looks like you came to fight. That’s good, but now it’s my turn to bring the fight back to you.”
Narrowing her eyes, La Rosa waited for Naoko to throw again. When she did, a high left hook, Esmeralda blocked it with her gloves, but then advanced under her own guard while pushing her blocking arms forward, temporarily throwing open Naoko’s stance. The Sniper did not expect this, and as Esmeralda closed in, she hurried to convert from offense to defense, bringing her arms front to form a guard.
“MmNNGHK!”
Before she could fully form it, the bodyguard was upon her, sliding her right glove under Naoko’s half-guard to burrow into her abs with a jutting low uppercut. The police officer grunted loudly in pain, feeling her blue mouthguard shift forward in her mouth as she bit down on it, but not before nearly doubling over as she coughed up a burst of saliva, the wind knocked out of her.
